"NO GST FOR YOU"

This week was pretty good! I was actually able to eat some awesome food this week, so that is quite a welcome change. One thing about the mandarin branch in Calgary is that they aren't huge on feeding the missionaries, which is completely fine, but the last couple weeks I've been super dumb and decided that I didn't need any meal variety and it would be easier to buy groceries in bulk and just eat the same thing every day. Needless to say I am so incredibly sick of turkey, rice, and beans. This week I switched my diet over to buffalo chicken quesadillas, and those are possibly the greatest thing ever created. Also Cafe Rio Pork (shout out Katya for sending the recipe). We had a baptism in our branch this week for our friend Yu Ning. It was so awesome to watch him get baptised. Also earlier that day we had a branch hike. Most of us were able to get back to the baptism on time, but Elder Mcaffee and Baer's carpool had a bunch of little kids that were very slow at walking...

Anything else we can help with? "Graduate from PHD"

Hello everyone! Sorry I didn't email last week, I honestly just didn't want to so that's the main reason. But this past week was pretty cool. I just finished up training, and Elder Spencer went home. We are now training, which is a little bit scary, but we'll get through it. Elder Pace is my new companion and he is honestly so awesome and fun to work with. This week we got a little overwhelmed with how often we found friends last week, so one day it seemed the only best conclusion was to "flip a coin and if heads we keep teaching them, if tails we drop them." We got talked off that ledge so we're good now. We had an awesome lesson with our friends Helen and she at the end when we finished we asked if there was anything else we could do to help her. She told us just "graduate from PHD," so crossing my fingers I won't let Helen down, but as of right now it's not looking too good for me. We had our friends Ange and Cynthia come to church ...

Nah I'm from Philadelphia

Hello Everyone General conference was this week and that was pretty awesome. We went to a white members house after dinner and they made probably the best meal I've eaten on my mission. They had chicken, ribs, steak, this funky potato thing, and it was honestly the greatest thing ever. He has a kid in 10th grade, so I decided I'd mess with him and ask him an unanswerable question: "Can you name one speaker from general conference and what they talked about?" I remember when father Tony Horsley used to ask me that one. It always stumped me cause he knew darn well I didn't listen to a single one and I wouldn't be able to answer. As I got older I came up with a wonderful strategy to listen for like 3 minutes to just get the jist of one talk, and that went pretty well. But this time through on my mission, it actually was really awesome. It was by far the most I have ever listened to general conference and the most I've gotten from it as well. I did eat myself...
