Shelled up Craw fish
(I should've sent this out earlier, but we just didn't have it today)
First of all shout out to Parker Simmons for the greatest emails of all time. They inspire me to stop writing 2/10 emails, but alas that is not in the cards today.
Anyways the last two weeks have been baller. There have defiently been some tough days, but when I look back at it, I'm only remembering the awesome stuff so thats cool. For example, shelled up crawfish and snake head. Two solid delicacys I have been priviliged to consume recently. Everybody thinks the gross food on the mission is a bad part of it, but it's honestly so fun to try these things. Anyways crawfish with the shells still on is a solid 8/10 just like crunchy lobster, and snake head was also a solid 7/10. Nothing too bad yet.
Last week we had a lesson with our friend walter and it was a TRAINWRECK. Actually so funny though and something to write about, so I won't complain too much. He came to the chuch and wanted to talk about the Book of Mormon because he loved the bible so much. We got talking and thought it was going really well until, plot twist, 30 minutes into the whole thing he goes on his shpeal about how God only exist because people collectively say he exists, and everyone is just all tricked together. I of course did not understand what he was saying, because it was in half Chinese and half English. So I did the best thing I knew how to do when I have no clue whats happening. I just smiled and agreed. Elder Christopher got it cleared up though so no need to worry.
English class is super fun. Every Saturday and Monday night we teach a free english class to any Mandirin speaker in Calgary who wants to work on their English. They are legit the best people ever. Shout out to Lei Yu, Cynthia, and Ange. Always making my day and making me laugh. I honestly feel like they're teaching me English too. We're reading Charlottes web right now with them, and who wouldv'e guessed. I'm having to look up words in there too. Needless to say by the end of this whole thing they will have plenty of vocab to interact with any farmer or rancher alive.
This week I also went on exchanges with elder Tang. It was really fun to be with him, cause neither of us are actualy fully trained yet. So we were just balling the best we could. It ended up working out real good except that we had a bunch of extra meetings that day. So not a ton of finding or other stuff like that happened. Little bit of a bummer but we'll make sure it happens next time.
Jun Cao came to church this week which was awesome. We bonded over not being able to understand the speaker because of their accent (everyone hear speaks chinese but they're all from different places so the Chinese is way different between all of them. It will legit sound like another language sometimes because of how different the accents are.) Anyways he agreed to do scripture reads with us every tuesday and friday night, and he will read in English, while I read in Chinese. We will be able to get better together, and hopefully he can feel the power of the book of mormon at the same time.
Anyways I love you guys and you are all so cool. Please pray and read the book of mormon. I haven't always done this, but now that I consintently do both of those things, It is crazy the power it brings into your life. Also just a couple scriptures I want to share if your still reading. Heleman 7:7-9:
7 Oh, that I could have had my days in the days when my father Nephi first came out of the land of Jerusalem, that I could have joyed with him in the promised land; then were his people easy to be entreated, firm to keep the commandments of God, and slow to be led to do iniquity; and they were quick to hearken unto the words of the Lord—
8 Yea, if my days could have been in those days, then would my soul have had joy in the righteousness of my brethren.
9 But behold, I am consigned that these are my days, and that my soul shall be filled with sorrow because of this the wickedness of my brethren.
If you really think back on those days that he is talking about, it was not all fine and dandy as he says. I think sometimes in life we look back to the past, rather then live in the moment and make the best of where we are and what we are doing. I have defiently done this before, but I know that as we live in the moment and do our best, we can make memories just as awesome or greater than those ones in the past.
Love you all!
