Its like stepping into the farmlands of mainland China
Hello everyone. I'm back with an email this week so we'll get right into it.
These past two weeks were really awesome. We had the Primary Program last week at church and that was fun to explain to our friends. It was less of a primary program and more of like 8 kids mumbling and one kid yelling. It was wonderful. They weren't even yelling words they just yelled on pitch for an hour. I was just crying/laughing in my hands for a solid 30 minutes so my jaw and face hurt afterwards.
We had a super awesome miracle yesterday with our recent convert 左大哥, Zuo Da Ge. He is from deep China and with about negative understanding of our terrible Chinese accents. We decided we wanted to visit him with cookies because of a light the world challenge in our mission that day. We went by and he didn't even recognize us from the window. Just a look of utter terror that two people who looked like they only spoke English were at his house. He got his son in law who spoke a little english to answer the door, but plot twist, we were spitting chinese. He absolutely loved it and then recognized us and invited us in. His little granddaughter bolted from the upstairs, took the cookies, put two in her mouth, and dipped for us to never see her again that night. (didn't matter, we didn't have cookie stuff so we took the leftover cookies from youngmens, put them on the plate, and prettied it up for Zuo knowing full well he has not touched or will touch a sugar cookie in his entire life). We proceeded to talk for 15 minutes and share a spiritual thought in Chinese that he could UNDERSTAND. That was the miracle part. Since I have been here our only interactions were 你好 (Ni Hao), a shake of a hand and like a weird partial bow thing (idk) and then we walked away. Yesterday we fr talked for 15 minutes and my man zuo is like 70+ and slurs all his words but the understanding was there on both sides. It was incredible.
We had awesome miracles street contacting this week with our friends Arne and Angel. We met Arne in mcdonalds and I thought he was coding. He low key looked homeless so I went up and told him I thought he was cool for coding in mcdonalds. He was actually writing his family about an accident his brother was in a couple days earlier and is now Quadrepeligic. He Jumped up from his chair and yelled "ARE THE MORMONS! YOU'RE EXACTLY WHO I NEED RIGHT NOW!" and proceeded to hug both of us for like 10 seconds. bless up we were led to McDonalds that day. Angel was someone I met on SAIT campus a couple weeks ago. She gave us the wrong email on accident, but the second time she saw us she ran up to us and just started apologizing about giving us her wrong email. We proceeded to talk for a little and then later that week had a lesson! she is mad elect pray for her pls.
Eric got baptized which was super cool. We didn't teach him, but we found him through Facebook work and then passed him off. Our alarm clock is so cursed now, reach out if you're trying to hear it I would be embarrassed to send it on this. Our friend came to church with his kids and they were mad bored so they played with my rubiks cube (led to bring it to church, idk why I did that but I'm fr glad I did). Anyways overall its just been great.
In Genesis Joseph gets sold into egypt as a slave by his brothers for some money, gets falsely accused, goes to jail for 3 years, becomes Pharaohs 2nd in command guy (comeback story fr), and then proceeds to save an entire nation from a famine. When he eventually meets up with his brothers again they have no clue what to say because they literally sold him into slavery, but Joseph just says: " 8 So now it was not you that sent me hither, but God: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a aruler throughout all the land of Egypt."
This is my new favorite scripture because he doesn't even expect an apology from them, in fact he saves them and gives them food and a place to live in the famine with no second thought. He was so faithful because it was God's plan and not his brothers that just seemingly wrecked his life. So whatever stuff your going through right now, cause everyone goes through it, just know that when you rely on the Lord it will all be a part of his plan. Love you all and love to hear from you! Have a great week!
