Can yall send this to my email list?
Hello Hello everyone, I know I havent written in quite a while, but I’ll make up forr it with a quick update today. This past little bit has been super awesome. I’m serving in a pretty wealthy area called somerset/sundance area, and the lord has been blessing us a ton. We have been able to see his hand in the lord so much with the people we have been able to find and start teaching. One of these people is Rob. Rob has met with missionaries for a verry long time now, but he is just now starting to see the gospel really soften his heart. We went over and we were quite possibly the most bold I’ve been on my whole mission. It was about 15 minutes of “are you really going to stand before God at the last day, and be able to justify your decision of not joining the church just because your ‘lazy.’ If that were me, I would never want to face my creator and God with such a weak excuse.” I know it sounds harsh, but we said it with love and his heart has really been changing. The lord is working on Rob.
Another is a friend named Stacy. Stacy removed her records from the church at a young age, but just now she is starting to see the need of God in her life. She has been reading the Book of Mormon again, and we are really excited to continue meeting with her and helping her get back to a place of happiness and joy in her life.
Other awesome thing that happened was that Roda got baptized. Roda was someone I met street contacting at SAIT university on September 30th (she knows exactly when and told me at her baptism). She has been consistently coming to church since about late november, and has really found the truthfulness of the book of mormon. She invited me to come visit her for the baptism and give her the gift of the Holy Ghost which was an amazing experience. My Chinese was buhao but the spirit was there. She said I was the first angel sent from God to meet her and I am so excited for her and the decision she made. Her son ernest should be baptized relatively soon as well. I know I’m not there dad, but honestly so proud of them. Final cool thing about that too though was that this was the first street contacting baptism of the mandarin branch in a while. It will help get morale and dedication to street contact much higher which is something that we need over there.
On a less spiritual note:
A lady yelled at me and spoke more profanitys in my direction than I have heard in my life. She just stood there and heckled while I was talking to other people. I went up and told her God loves her and that I would pray for her. Now I know what your thinking “wow thats so mature,” “hes grown so much.” No, it was nothing but malicious intent to rile her up more and it worked. But I did pray for her so I won that interaction and she cant do anything about it. In fact, Imma go pray for her again.
I ate a fish eyeball to impress the youth. Failed horribly and gaged while they took it like a champ. Kind of an L.
I’ve been teaching seminary and I have no clue why these kids like us. But its the spirit so thats cool.
I perfected chicken and rice so get yourself an airfryer and some meat church spices and get your palets ready cause I am taking a groundbreaking step to break white people chicken stereotypes.
President and Sister Davis are awesome and the Book of Mormon is true.
For a final spiritual thought, I just wanted to share the role of being uncomfortable in lasting discipleship. I actually gave a talk in church about it yesterday because I heard from Abby that Calder talked about it in his church talk. Now It might have been lost in interpretation, but heres what I got:
What is the difference between Laman and Lemuels angel visitations and Alma and the Sons of Mosiahs’.
After Laman and Lemuels experience they did nothing that put themselves in uncomfortale situations for the lord, they were in uncomfortale situations, but if it were up to them they would have left ASAP. The Sons of Mosiah and Alma after there experience, they went and served 13 year missions where they were cast in prison, beat, laughed at, and in ‘enemy’ territory for the whole time.
At the end of the whole thing Alma talks about the joy in seeing his brethern after such a long time and says something like “they waxed strong in the truth and had a sound understanding cause of much fasting and prayer.”
They put themselves in uncomfortable positions for the lord, which allowed them to feel more joy and have a deeper conversion to christ through the spiritual exxperiences that came to them. Laman and Lemuel did not.
As we try to strengthen our testimony in God, I hope we can put ourselves in uncomfortable situations as well so we can have the spiritual experiences he has prepared for us. Whether that be peeling out of bed to partake of sacrement, accepting a calling, amplyfying our calling, reading the scriptures, going to the temple, or any number of things, God will bless us for our desires to serve, and for our willingnes to be uncomfortable for him.
Love everyone and have a wonderful week.
