Merry Christmas, happy new year, feliz yom kippur. I think I've missed a couple other holidays but I'll leave the list brief. It feels like its probably time for me to get on writing another email. I've been procrastinating telling this update with my life, and I dont know exactly how to phrase it, so I'll just quote my brother Henry who put it best in his past email:
"Prayers up for my brother Mckay he has fallen ill and my bet is that he gets sent home sadly, what a shame."
It was looking bad there for a moment, but I'm happy to say I've recovered from a mild cold and moderately stuffy nose. I will be able to finish my mission here in the CCM so blessings up🙏
I'm training a new little guy out here named Elder Lim. Hes from Hawaii and he is such a hard worker who is stoked to be out here. He's about the least frugal man I've ever met though. Love him for it though. It gives some good laughs. The first week he was here he bought a Silver brick for $500 dollars because, in his words, "I'm just gonna lose the cash." I guess you just gotta buy a silver brick when you get the chance.
Other cool stuff:
- I'm buying a whole new wardrobe out here from value village
- We workout with milk jugs and broomstick handles
- Chinese is cool and I love learning it. Highly reccomend
- Met a lot of really cool people who liked us
- Met a lot more than the previous lot who didn't like us including a white police officer spoke to us in Chinese and tried to kick us off the trains, but we gave him some sass than we were fine.
- Elder Lim cuts hair
- Made a christmas card and the google photos below
- We went to a fancy violin concert for christmas
- I received a sandwhich for white elephant gift enchange for the 2nd year in a row. This year it was on 9 grain multi-seed type bread💀
- There was a stretch there where we ate from the new chiptole like everyday and we tricked the workers into giving us double meat (it was free)
Here's a cool miracle from the other day that I wrote in my journal:
Today, we experienced an awesome miracle of the lord in the little time table switcharounds that we had. It all started yesterday when were advertising our english class at TNT. Amy Bu walks up and tells us that she is planning on feeding a group of elders that night. None of the elders knew this though, and she ended up just inviting us. We went over to her house at 5:30pm and had to skip some downtown time because of it. I was honestly not super stoked, but what is awesome is that the Lord made way up for it with the miracle we saw today. In the course of dinner, I didnt eat as much as I normally would, and by the end of the night when we got home, I was really hungry but also really tired. I ended up just deciding to go to bed. Because I woke up hungry, I had a really short and bad workout which was cut short for me to make some instant noodles and a protein shake, which I made way too much of. I never eat breakfast, and I rarely skip a workout, and if those do happen they rarely if ever happen together. Because of this, when we went to district council, I was quite full. We always eat lunch together afterwards, and I suggested Wendys, which I usually do not like. The only reason I suggested it today was because I could get two JBCs and it would tide me over until dinner in the cheapest way possible. I was really the only one in the district that originally wanted wendys, but everyone eventually got on board and we went later than usual due to debating where we should go. We show up and Elder Lim and I both see Chinese people and we both go and talk to them. We have been having some difficulty finding elect people recently, but both the people we talked to right outside of wendys, that we went to late, and never go to, and only went because I was full, which never happens, which only happened because a member invitied us to dinner randomly, and I was too lazy to make food at night, which doesnt happen. It was a super cool miracle to see that the Lord puts people in our path that we need to meet, and changes our schedule so we can be in the right place at the right time. Both people are being taught this weekend, and both want to come to church. One has expressed his extreme desire for church, friends, and serving in the church. It was an awesome miracle filled day.
I've been out here for the entirety of 2024 now. What an amazing year. I'm so grateful I have gotten the oppurtunity to be in Canada as a representative of Jesus Christ for the whole year. The change in my life and the lives of our friends has been indescribable.

It probably tells a better story about my mission than I could anyways.
I'm 胖 (pàng), white, tall, in Canada, speaking Chinese, and looking like a kiwi.
Just to start off the direct translation of 胖 means fat in Chinese, but it's a word used to describe anyone who is not skinny, so I am now 胖. I GOT MY TRAVEL PLANS! So anyways I fly to Canada on Thursday morning at 4:07 AM by myself, and I'm so excited. I have loved the MTC though. The people I met here have been awesome, and the amount of stuff I learned here about the gospel and Chinese has been awesome. The MTC will always have awesome memories associated with it in my mind. Also I will miss Elder Palmer a lot. He is such a cool dude, and my next companion is going to have a lot to live up too. This week me and some people in the district decided we were going to do push-ups for every word we miss out of our goal for the week. We've been doing 150 words per week with the tones and if we don't get them right, that's three pushups. Anyways I did 102 pushups on Tuesday, but this week I will do none. My mom sent me a package with Salsa and Cherries in it. It was...
