Chinese ladies > Trained Doctors

Hi everyone this is my first full week here in Calgary and it was solid. I ate fish soup, was a part of a Chinese KSL negotiation, got to experience older ladies helping us heal our wounds, and already moved apartments. This week we got fed by members a lot which was very fun. The food they make is delicious with tons of pork, ribs, wings, rice, and almost no fruit. Fruit is like a dessert so we barely get any at members' houses, so I stocked up today at the friendly neighborhood Walmart. This week we also got fed fish soup which was like some gelatin consistency soup with bits of fish and vinegar in it. Not as delicious as one might hope. I ate it all to be polite and then the person who was taking us out to dinner asked if I wanted more. I of course had no clue what they said because they speak at the speed of light so I hit the international smile and said yes. So that night I was blessed with the opportunity to have two full bowls of delicious fish soup. We also helped the Elder's quorum president buy a TV for the church at some random person's house from like a craigslist listing. It was great to watch because while he was inspecting every single inch of this TV, and setting up DVD players and speakers to see how the sound was, me and my comp were just standing in the corner oblivious to any of the Chinese words having to do with HDMI cables and sound input. We of course after about 40 minutes didn't have a truck to put it in, but I think we are headed back sometime this week to seal the deal. We also had the chance to go on a ward hike this week where we found 4 new potential people who would be interested in learning about the church which is a W. There was this guy named Warren who loved talking to me and helping me practice my Chinese while I helped him in his English. He wanted to read the Book of Mormon after I told him a couple stories about it in Chinese, so now we're meeting this week to talk about it and teach a lesson so that will be great. I've also never taken more pictures in my life. I kid you not when I say every lady in our branch wants to take a picture about every other step. They then proceed to edit them and send them back to you with weird edits. So perchance I may include one at this. My Comp. also got a cut on his leg on the hike which honestly was a glorified scratch, but every lady on the hike was pulling out their first aid kits to get him taken care of. So now Elder Christopher has got about 12 different ointments on his scratch so hopefully he feels better. I also moved already which made Friday kind of crazy, and ate Costco hotdogs today. And I eat the same Burrito everyday for multiple meals, so if you have any cool, easy and cheap recipes, I would not be mad if you sent them. Also the Book of Mormon is awesome, so if you aren't reading it you should. I used to not like reading it, but when you really care and try to read, it becomes so cool. So read it. - Elder Horsley
